"Basics of Materia Medica - A Must Read For Homoeopaths" is student friendly book because a student needs a concise information before going to examination and it is written in a way which a students need in his/her exam time. Many of the books are written in a way in which student have to choose a matter which is important for him/her to write in examination, but this book is written in a way in which there is no need to pick up the matter, or I would say matter is not written in scattered form, it is written in concised form and to the point information.
Book is written in a way to clear concepts. Author states in preface also that this book does not contain medicinal information but contains basic information.
It contains from the beginning information or essential information which a student needs before reading out the medicinal part like What is Definition of Materia Medica, History of Materia Medica, Different System of Materia Medica are also explained like Chinese System, Unani System, Ancient Egypt System, Roman System, Nature of Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Sources and Source Books of Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Types of Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Methods to Study Homoeopathic Materia Medica, Biochemic System of Medicine, Nosodes and Sarcodes separate chapter with Name of Books on Nosodes and Sarcodes, Drug Relationship like Inimical, Complementary, Cognates etc., and lastly Common Terminologies like Miasms, Diathesis, Constitution, Temperament, Modalities etc.
Source Books of Homoeopathic Materia Medica contains Separate Picture of Different Books of Materia Medica which is interesting part, because many of the students memorize this theory part but forgot to see actually how the book looks like. So this chapter contains the images of books like if author discusses about Fragmenta than Fragmenta book image is given, If author discusses about Chronic Diseases than Image of Chronic Disease is Given.
Doctrine of Signatures are also elaborated in this book with clear pictures which is interesting.
Overall this book is recommended by me for both PG as well as UG Students and for Clinicians to gain the insights of introductory part of Materia Medica.
